You often read here that many people label themselves as speakers of many languages so I wonder what is the general consensus of the level required to be attained prior to such a statement. For me would be able to read classical novels in said language without having to resort to the dictionary every two sentences, being able to speak it fluently and articulately with a decent accent that doesn t give away your native tongue, knowledge of vocabulary of various and diverse topics, and finally be able to write in an eloquent and sophisticated manner.
For instance in Europe you re often required to reach C1 level of the language the classes are dictated in, and is deemed as enough to not be a barrier in the learning process.
