Default Average monthly net salary (after tax) in the Balkans and Eastcentral Europe

    source: Numbeo, August 2018.

I think I did a good job to look after all the relevant cities in the whole region and have such a comparison. average net wage is a very relevant thing to look at.

It seems that Bosnia is doing better than Serbia.

In practice I think 300 euros is average salary for most in Serbia. Statistics that shows near 400 e is for Belgrade city only and those with above average jobs.

I was surprised Greece doesn't have the highest wages in the Balkans although it always traditionally belonged to the West in many ways. also, Romania is not the poorest at all. and there is a huge difference within ex-Jugoslavija, from wealthy Slovenia and balanced Croatia to Macedonia and Serbia that have some very low wages - I wonder how would they have fared together and were there noticeable differences before the split-up? Moldova and Ukraine seem to be by far the poorest. Albania somewhat close to them but also to Serbia.

although we don't know the prices everywhere - if they also have very low prices then it's not that bad as it seems

According to Vučić this is the most prosperous period in the modern history of Serbia. But when you open a table such as this one, all you have to do is look at the bottom and you'll find us.

Sigh...at least now, thanks to Trump and Erdogan, we have better average wages than the Turks.

I am from Rijeka and live in Budapest and Rijeka has Slightly higher wages, Zagreb visibly higher.

But Living standard is better in Hungary than Croatia. Consumer goods are much cheaper, even half price than in Croatia, Food especially, and there is very low unemployment with dynamic job Market .

Slovenia is by far richest, but Slovenia is very expensive as well.

I am really satisfisfied with life in Hungary, I must say. Sadly Croatia is worse at the moment.

that would be a great country - lots of seaside and lots of mountains and lots of plains for agriculture. it could border self-sufficiency and a strong economy (people spending money on things produced in the country).
