Default Can you retain water for several days after a carb binge?

Or simply eating the wrong kinda food? I usually am good with my diet, but when I eat (some) fast food, or even just stuff at home with lots of salt, or pizza, or pastries, I balloon up. I retain more water than the hoover dam! It seems to last for awhile because all of a sudden I balloon up (bloating too) and it seems like my old fat cells fill up with water. Then if I'm careful with my diet, it eventually goes away, but it usually takes several days to reverse. It this typical?

I cannot say i ve experienced days-long facial bloat, but I have for something like 24 hrs - mind you I m very careful with this since I m low bodyfat and do my very best to keep my face as lean as possible. Maybe if you know you re gonna stuff your face with junk high-sodium foods then do your best to minimize the bloat (being well hydrated all the time, before and after the binge, abuse vitamin C, etc.) As a last resort what I do is either work out/do some cardio/hit the sauna. This will get rid of everything, remember to stay hydrated
