Mao Zedong - North Sinid proper, long-faced, with a prominent occiput, rather robust Asian type:


Deng Xiaoping - less prominent back of head, squarer face, stocky build, seems to be rather a South Sinid/Paleo Mongoloid combination:


Jiang Zemin - Middle Sinid oriented, in my opinion. He is hypsicranic, nose seems narrower than in South Sinids. Could probably be viewed as pred. Changkiangid but photos from his youth reveal another robust element which could be Paleo Mongoloid or the Tibetan variety of Sinid - Kham:



Hu Jintao - another fine North Sinid example, in my opinion. Second photo shows him shake hands with Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe who falls into the Coshu category:


Xi Jinping - hypsicranic, brachycephalic, yet rather tall Asian type with a quite flat face. Between South Sinid and Tungid, in my opinion:

Mao (taller man on left) Nord/Middle Sinid. Similar to Nord but with broader face.
Deng (shorter man on the right in both pics) probably between Middle/South Sinid. General southern look (as far as I know)

Jiang (taller man on the left); probably Middle Sinid (with likely Northern influences)

Hu (shorter man on right) again the classic Middle/North Sinid mix.
Xi ( taller man on left) seems more classic Nord Sinid with likely Tungus influences.

To recapitulate Xi and Deng provide an idea of a possible North Sinid- South Sinid range, with other three being variants of the general North-Middle Sinid popular today among millions of Chinese.

their faces don't look alien to me, although they look fully East Asian. I think they look less Chinese than average Chinese and there is a connection between Northern/Eastern Europeans and Northeast Asians that makes us not perceive them as alien.

some Eastern Euro have this vibe, he could be an engineer or a town hall employee here:
