He did restored Pećka Patriaršija, but he fought and murdered many Orthodox people in Wars, he was muslim after all not orthodox.

If Orthodoxes actually liked people like Mehmed Paša Sokolovic, 1850 - 1995 massacres would not occur.

Serbs keep saying: Serbs were never muslims and deny Serbian Islamic heritage.
I know very well what I'm talking about. For most of Serbs Mehmed paša Sokolović is the greatest muslim Serb ever. Serbs have a negative opinion of some other muslim Serbs such as Omer paša Latas and Dahije, because they were enemies of Orthodox Serbs. Positive opinion among Serbs is also about muslim Serbs such as Sulejman Spaho, Osman Đikić, Meša Selimović, Muhamed Mehmedbašić...
In the Serbian historiography Mehmed paša Sokolović is not forgotten.

Oh I see, you Orthodoxes love those muslim Serbs who are subjugated to mainstream Orthodox politics right?

Good muslim serb is the one that is approved to be "good" by Serbian Patriarchate and Politics, quite convenient.

But those who disagree with SPC and Orthodox politics are Turks.

Dahije were bloody criminals which infliced a lot of evil to Orthodox Serbs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahije
Serbian uprising in 1804 happened due to torture towards the Orthodox Serbs by Dahije in Belgrade pashaluk.
3 of 4 Dahije were muslim Serbs. Kučuk Alija Đevrlić, Aga Aganlija and Mehmed Fočić were muslim Serbs, and Mula Jusuf was Albanian.
Kučuk Alija Đevrlić was from Rudnik in Šumadija, Aga Aganlija was from Valjevo in western Serbia, Mehmed Fočić was from Herzegovina, Mula Jusuf was Albanian from Novi Pazar or Rožaje.

We will never know for sure what Sokolovic believed in and what was his real intentions. Save his actions benefited greatly the Serbian identity.

Another lesson to take it's that when an empire's core builder is weakened and the devshirme appears, the system falls apart.

Rome fell in a similar way, after hiring Germanic barbarians. Ottomans fell after hiring Balkanian Orthodox kids.

I have seen on "Serbian DNA project" 2 muslims from B&H with surname Sokolović.

Guy from Mostar (Herzegovina) is R1b-U152, and other guy is I2a1b.

Mehmed paša Sokolović was probably I2a1b.

Many of sources say that he was pretty loyal to Sultan and also the whole Empire, still i don’t have enough knowledge about him so i can’t say anything.
