The Volcanoes in central Victoria, were the ones which built up the central highlands, if l'm not mistaken, however the lava from them gave us the hated soil geology of Basiltic Clays which dominate North, North-western and Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Many houses suffer from this geology.

Yes, those would have been regular volcanoes releasing lava from time to time.

But those that come from the underground and are not open, they are like timed bombs.

i know that feeling since i'm surrounded by Volcanoes , especially when you look at rocks around you them and all you see is volcanic rock...they had quite an impact



most of them are ancient and dormant but still...at least we have some termal baths and springs scattered all around

It's all fake news that Australia needs to stay relevant. Those volcanoes have been dormant for millions of years, Australia doesn't lay on the border of any tectonic plates, active volcanoes are impossible.

sounded strange to me in fact, since i watched a documentary that said that world's most ancient rock formation ws found in australia( would not have lasted that long with tectonics and lava flows around)

pretty frequent under 4.5 Richter, Over 5 richter it happens around every 10 to 15 years

just 2 days ago we had a 4,6 in south italy. that damn Adriatic plate is splitting + Africa is pushing

Scary, but I suppose that's also why the Italian soil is so fertile. A blessing and a curse.
