Latinos are dominant.

Latino culture basically runs my city.

I learned the English language and I can barely speak my mother tongue but these fuckers can pour on in and speak Spanish for 20+ years and never mumble a single word of English. Don't get me wrong I love the Spanish language but I don't want to have to brush up on my Spanish skills because 95% of the population can't speak English.

Slavic Macedonian is our mother tongue. Some are bilingual in Greek and Macedonian. But some cousins of mine who are in Greece today only speak Greek.

What constitutes being assimilated into a specific culture? Is it when you completely throw away your previous language, culture, heritage? Or like me, a proud law abiding Australian, who believes in Australian/Western values, but still acknowledges and loves his ancestors, heritage and ancestral homeland?

When you speak the native language fluently , and observe the culture and customs of that region. That doesn't mean you have to completely give up any culture of your own. But it blends.
