Default Convince me to join a religion

Give me reasons you feel it is important for someone to practice a religion, and why it's important. Also what religion/sect, and why?

It is important because it instills values, cbf explaining deeper. I was raised Catholic and am now atheist but if I ever have children, will definately plan on baptising them and sending them to a Christian school. If they choose to become atheists later on like me, then it's their choice.

I actually would like to found a new religion myself, you're welcome to join.

1- You do not have all the answers
2- Surely your presence cannot be a fluke. You seem to be some kind of 'cog' in some kind of 'wheel*.'
3- If it is a fluke, then why the wheel?* Why arent you just some ball of gas floating in the cosmos?
4- Maybe there's something to this wheel...Trying to understand the 'physics' of its motion, its composition etc...requires "Science". cool
5- But the 'why' this wheel is so? Science does not have the tools to answer that. Hence "religion"

*wheel is just a metaphor for the circle of life, food chain, your relation to every living and non living organism here.

    Boom..did it in 5 moves.

I've always taken a lot of ideas about the metaphorical stories of religion that build the solid groundwork for being a successful human from Jordan Peterson. Even though I am currently not religious whatsoever, I'm very glad I was raised around a religious sect. Especially one that not many people have seen. It gives me a unique eye for it. Haha, lets do it mate

I am of the belief that most religious stories and foundations were created solely to have a happy population with values and work ethic. I think too many religious people nowadays have gotten away from the original intent of religion and strayed into the never-ending unjustified defense of their religious stories as being factual.

I do believe in a higher power I think, just don't think it's right to think you KNOW what that is exactly. I think our ancestors lived much happier lives than we do nowadays, and that alone is a big reason to think bout trying it.

Yes, most of the values espoused in the bible are good, it's only the belief in myths like a higher being that I don't subscribe to. This is why I call myself a "cultural Christian".

What sect did you grow up around?

It's called "Old Regular Baptist". Very small group of Baptists in the Appalachians adhered to by Scots-Irish Americans primarily.
