Here in the States, it's just very common practice, and I think it's just odd and kinda weird that the White Europeans are not circumcised.Since the United States is much more Evangelical Christian, I was wondering if that might explain the difference in demographics between the circumcised American and the uncircumcised European.
I always believed being circumcised was the result of your parents being Christians. It has come to signify the believers from the non-believers. In some places in Europe, churches sit empty. People don't worship the Lord. It is considered odd or even "offensive" to openly discuss religion- the Christian kind, in particular. In the United States, it's really different. Christianity is openly embraced. Even "non religious" families usually say some type of grace or pray over the meal. The decline of church going and Bible believers in Europe could explain why the Europeans do not practice what most in the United States consider to be a most hygienic and moral decision.
