What was it like after having kids?

I just recently returned from my cousin's wedding on my paternal side of the family that I haven't seen in 15 years. After seeing so many people, and kids running around, I wondered if I would have it in me to have a family. I am an introvert and I value my privacy and independence. I am also out of shape (but I used to lift weights), and I have never been a very energetic person. I have decided to make some changes to my diet, and possibly start exercising again.

I have a hard time visualizing myself taking care of a screaming, pooping, kid running around. Maybe if the mother was super awesome, I would consider it. 18 years just seems like one Hell of a long time to be minding someone else.

Is there any one here who had to make drastic changes once they had children? Talk about your experiences as a new parent here.
