What do you consider the northern-most "SOUTHERN" city in the United States ?

I'm really talking about the border line- where it is the furthest north you can go and experience true Southern Hospitality. IMO, the South starts at Fredericksburg, VA, but that isn't really a major city. So therefor, I pick Washington, D.C. I don't consider Baltimore the South, but I added it just for fun. Louisville, KY can be an option too. Write it in if you want.

Whoops. I can't read.

Yeah I consider KY and maybe part of VA but I'm just being biased because I think NC is the greatest state in the south. Parts of Virginia can be quite liberal though and proof of that is residents harassing US Navy Sailors. I also never really considered DC part of the South.

DC is the gateway to the South, IMO. D.C. is a world away from New York, Philadelphia, or anything even just a little further north of it. I'm including the Northern Virginia Metro in that as well. Being liberal doesn't make something necessarily not the South. Those people aren't really Virginians, they are mostly transplants from other areas. I never heard of any military being harassed in Virginia. We are the most patriotic state in America, and also the 14th most religious. The Coastal Southern states are (unfortunately ) more liberal. NC and VA are actually about the same culturally . D.C. has swallowed much of Virginia in the last 40 years or so. I've been to parts of NC that are just as liberal as Virginia, if not moreso.

I'm talking mainly about major cities. I guess you could include West VA. The extreme northern tip of Frederick County, VA is the same latitude to Baltimore, but none of Virginia is north of it.
