This is where the distinction is: south Italians also have Natufian/SW Asian, not just the four components listed above.

LOL Here on the Internet non-European people like to emphatise non-white ancestry in Italians, like to believe that Sicilians are all Middle Easterners or quasi-africans, that southern Italians are a sort of swarthies with turkish features, usually relying over many false stereotypes and some Hollywood movies and stupid tv shows like Jersey Shore.
I have also seen some people here cherrypicking photos of southern Italians from Facebook in order to demonstrate that they look like Poc or something, which is very stupid since photos on Facebook can be very deceiving and misleading. The reality is really different.
Middle East's dominant haplogroup is J1. No Southern Italian region has higher J1 than 5-6%. It's very, very small. Southern Italians are a mixture of original Neolithic farmers from the Levant (a completely different people from today's Arabs), original Indo-Europeans, Greek settlers and immigrants from all sides of the Roman Empire plus some Norman and Germanic influence after the Roman Empire fell. This mixture can hardly be defined as "Middle-Easterner".
As someone has already said, in Italy you can't distinguish a Southern Italian from a Northern one.
Every time Americans try to educate us about what WE are, they always speak on behalf of us native people from another country about our own nationality. It’s ridiculous. LOL If you are not Italian, if you have never been to Italy, if you don’t live in Italy, stop speaking on behalf of us Italians. Stop spreading misinformation and BS!
