Same, except that I want to assimilate among Italians which I can't do among the Japanese due to racial differences.

I must admit that i'm surprised by the poll votes... Tokyo is more technological and futuristic usually people especially young prefer these cities. Unless you like the usual European cities full of art.
I bet average Italians would never vote for it considering how the major is managing the city...

In any case i prefer European cities so Rome for me but Tokyo is also very cool.

I have no issues with not belonging. However, if I had children that would be different, they would care about society perceiving them as 'foreign'.

I've visited Rome once, what a charming place, and Italians are bros, so my vote goes to the city of seven hills.

I love Japan though and Tokyo is an A++ major gobal city, only London and New York have the same status, but I haven't yet had the pleasure of visiting.

But your ancestors preferred to prove a connection to their Southern and west Roman heritage than to their Northern roots to the point that they even attempted to fabricate connections to it, such as the Holy Roman Empire

    Emperor

    • 800–814
    Charlemagne

    • 962–973
    Otto I (first Kaiser)

    • 1792–1806
Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor (last Kaiser of the holy roman empire)

    Kaiser = Caesar

So you don't like at all your ancestors..

That's tough. I think I'd rather live in Tokyo and visit Rome.

maybe you guys should see charts for both cities on criminality, average wage and such. Tokyo will win in most economy- and livability-based topics.

of course Rome stays with the easier language to learn and vicinity (for Europeans).

being foreign in Tokyo is really no issue, lots of foreigners already there. a friend of mine stayed in Kyoto and fell in love with Japan, he'd go back there to live anytime
