Culturally: Is Croatia more Western or Eastern European, or in beetween?

Before communism Eastern Europe was part of Western Europe, including Russia. There was no Eastern Europe.

To me there’s just one Europe.

But the point is, although Poland, Czechs, Croats etc are Catholics they are still viewed as Eastern Europeans by the majority of Western Europeans. Before communism those countries were part of the ’West’.

That is true, most western Europeans consider Greeks as western despite they are orthodox, because Greece had no communism.

I personally think both proper western and eastern Europe are quite different from Croatia.

Greeks are not considered western only because of not communism as official state ideology in Greece, but also because of high influence of ancient Greek philosophy and culture to the Western Europe.
