Default are dark eyes almost absent in the british isles?

We all know british people have higher incidence of dark hair in comparison to Scandinavian or baltic people, but very few have dark eyes in the british isles (from almost black to chocolate brown), the standard iris colour is a spotted blue, basicaly a blue eye with green/yellow and brown admixture, then the second common is a deep dark and pure blue, then hazel (green-brown mix) that can look dark at times, but eyes are rarely fully brown.
According to hooton pure dark eyes account for around 0,5% of irish population, while dark hair was far more common (around 3% proper black,40% dark brown), most of irish have blue or very light green eyes and dark hair, when i was in Ireland i rarely saw people with dark eyes.

40% of irish have pure blue eyes
    4% have grey eyes
    43% blue/green/gray hazel/blue eyes
11% green/brown or olive green eyes
    0,5% brown

    in terms of hair colour:

    3% black
    40% dark brown
33% medium to light brown hair
    15% blond
    9% red

Irish have an excess of rufosity...

Aside from the "Dark Irish" I'd say they rarely have dark eyes, unless they're mixed race or an immigrant. Most ethnic Brits have dark hair and light eyes, as you mentioned above.

They don't have a lot of dark-eyed people, true, but you're exaggerating there a bit. Those percentages would be more appropriate for Scandinavians. Watching their films and TV shows, it's not hard to find a decent amount of native actors with dark eyes.

Brown eyes are about 25-30% of the native British population. Not rare at all.

Scandinavians and irish have rougly the same eye colour percentages, Danish people are even slighty darker eyed than Irish, actually the main difference is hair colour, scandinavians have more blond or blondish hair, and irish more dark and red hair...

Brown eyes are nowhere near absent in British Islanders. Whilst light eyes are indeed the clear majority. A significant minority also have brown eyes. I've seen plenty of pure blooded British people with brown eyes.

brown/hazel eyes are common, but proper dark eyes, with a strong brown tone are very rare, more common in Wales,Scotland and England than Ireland, anyway true dark is the majority only in Ireland and Wales, most of Scottish and English people have intermediate to light hair, while rufosity being common in all Britain, particulary in Scotland, about 10% of Irish are red haired, 15% of scottish people, 8% of Welsh people,8% of English people, while blond hair (true fair hair, ranging from golden brown to platinum blond) being quite common (Ireland: 15%, Wales: 13%,Scotland: 20%,England: 25%...

Would be cool to compile a list of all countries which have such details.

there are various races in the British Isles:

Nordic/alpine (borreby): as true alpinid types (stocky built, dark pigmentation, short stature, brachicephalism) are abesent in Britain, this type is metrically similar to Borreby, altough slighty reduced: averege pigmentation: Pale skin, blond or brown hair, blue or mixed eyes, medium/tall stature, moderate cephalic index (80-82) very broad face and jaw, about 20% of Irish people

East baltic (unreduced Borreby): tall, strongly brachicephalic (cephalic index 84-88) very large head, blue or mixed eyes, extremly pale freckled skin, moderate to tall stature, very broad face and broad jaw, red or blond hair: about 5% of Irish people

North atlantic or ''keltic'': moderatly tall, mesocephalic or dolicocephalic (cephalic index 74-78),blue or mixed eyes, fair skin, predominantly brown or black hair, long and narrow face, often aquiline nose: about 50% of Irish people

Paleo Atlantic or ''Bruunn'': dolicocephalic (70-75), heavy and broad face, with prominent browridges, skin tone fair, hair colour brown, black but also blond and red, very tall, blue, hazel or mixed eyes: about 24,5% of Irish people

Mediterranid: short statured, gracile boned, hair colour black or brown, eyes brown, cephalic index mesocephalic or dolicocephalic (75-79), skin colour olive or tanned, about 0,5% of irish people, seems to be an archaic reemergence of a very ancient strain.
