this is big misconception , pakistani punjab was 60% muslim from 12 century , and most hindus of indus reigon were not puranic hindus fro example Most Sindhi Hindus are non vegetarian which means they eat meat like mutton (tiwan) and fish (macchi). These are relished in Sindhi culture regardless of being Hindu or Muslim. Sindhi Hindus who migrated to India also continue to hold on to this practice. Chicken too is consumed.

Secondly, some Sindhi Hindu clans bury their dead while other cremate. For example, in Hyderabad you can find the famous graveyard of Thakur Jaati Hindus. Laal Chand Raybari, the 1st Pakistani Hindu soldier to be killed in action, was buried rather than cremated.

So this shows a stark difference between North Indian Hinduism and Indus Hinduism. I've also mentioned how South Indian Hinduism differs from North Indian Hinduism in terms of what gods they revere and how temples are constructed.

Again the underlying Indus, Gangetic and Dravidian cultures is what created the differences between Pakistan, North India and South India. It wasn't religion 100%.
