Mediterranid influence in Western Europe has been underestimated because old skool anthropologists focused way too much on the cephalic index. IMO, many Alpines are just "rounded" Mediterraneans. Meds in Southern Germany are way more numerous than previously believed, also in Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Central France. Many of the "Subnordids" you people classify are probably more Nordid with Gracile Med than Alpine. Albeit it is hard to say, as we do not know much about the Alpine origin(s).

Both Alpinids and Mediterranids are evolved from darker Cromagnons. I guess, a short headed Gracile Mediterranid would look like Alpinid.

Just like:

Short headed Oriental Mediterranid would look like Dinarid.

Short headed East Nordid would look like Norid.

Short headed Iranid would look like Armenoid.

etc.

On a way. Or better Alpines in Southern Europe represent the Brachycefalic minority of a Mediterranean type.
But in many cases Alpines come withelements that Mediterraneans don’t have. Higher pigmentation variant, hair texture, sometimes different morphology of soft parts, overall wider head, jaw etc.
If you put a full Alpine next to a full Med you will notice the difference.

We should actually move in this direction:
1) determine if there is a Central European ”look”
2) se of the expression and appearance is more Germanic or Slav or Magyar (etc) ethnic/cultural look
3) finally basing on proportions decide if it’s more an Alpine, Nordic, Noric , Med metro-pigmentational type.

Imo proto indo europeans had dark hairs and eyes and fair skin like many basques.

Light skin = EHG and CHG

Dark skin = WHG and Levantine Farmers

Anatolian farmers had CHG admixture, that' why they brought first the light skin alleles to Europe, then later the Indo European with EHG admixture

Basques are light skin because they had Neolithic admixture, they don't are pure WHG

You forgot that Alpines also have distinctive physionomy, not just distinctive skull metrics.

Gracile Mediterraneans are ectomorph and mainly small statured while Alpines are endomorph and mainly medium statured.
