Hard to say, but I honestly think some ethnicities are "more American" than others.
A person of fully Anglo/Colonial Stock would be "more American" than someone fully Italian.
Anglos are the founding stock, the ones who defined the American culture, the people that gave the US it's main language.

They wanted, especially from western and northern Europe. It was founded by Whites, for Whites only. That was their original policy. Abraham Lincoln for example wanted all Blacks to be deported back to Africa.

I think any can be American, nowadays as long they have America's best interest in heart. As you know there some Americans who were descendants from the early settlers that put other nations interest before America, those are not Americans and can be said to be traitors. The Americans really need to get their government back.
