Even Josef Dobrovský, who wrote a descriptive book on modern Czech grammar, believed Czech wouldn't make a return as cultural language. Luckily mass education made rid of that 19th century notion.

František Palacký wrote first 2 volumes of his History of the Czech Nation in Bohemia and Moravia, in German firstly. Next 3 volumes he wrote in Czech.

Czechs = one of the most atheistic nation in the world.
Polaks = one of the most religious nation in the world.

There hasn't been any contact between Czechs and Polaks for many centuries. In fact all known history we have no contact. West Slavs = a linguistic group, nothing more.

I don't know what happened to the Catholic church, I know that Czechs don't like the Catholic church.

Most European nations from "the same part" of Europe look similar to each other. But people here are just ignorant, I usually can see on the first sight the differences between Polaks and Czechs even as it goes for looks, they are far more soft, far more baltid, men are far less attractive... but I don't blame you you can't see the difference - I am just saying Polaks and Czechs are far from being the same people not only as it goes for looks, but culture, history, mentality, etc.

Speaking about Sorbs, it is interesting that there are 2 Sorbian languages:
Upper Sorbian - closer to Czech language
Lower Sorbian - closer to Polish language

Czech Republic, easily. More developed, liberal, secular and westernised than the rest. Even the architecture is quite distinct. I don't know much about Sorbs but they are such a small minority for me to even consider it, so I will just stick with the nations.
