Crime is definitely a problem in some cities. Some cities! That will solve itself with technology and cameras being everywhere nowadays. It's a temporary problem.
sorry but I don;t want cameras everywhere, not even in my own neighborhood.

Tough one. But if Scotland is included when you say the UK, then the UK.

I'm probably the only TAer with citizenship of both and the UK is a better place to live overall IMO. But the US has some areas of spectacular countryside I wouldn't mind staying in for a while if I were inclined to leave my own country. Which I'm not.

    Some benefits:

UK: Far better architecture/prettier towns, villages, and usually cities; far less crime; no Dunkin' Donuts or the like; easy to visit another European country even for a few hours (fairly common to visit Amsterdam for a day, and some people even commute to Madrid from London)

US: More patriotic people, more friendly people, usually better roads/cheaper petrol, lower taxes, open country

Both countries are generally full of ugly people and shit food. Yes, there are exceptions, but visit any Mediterranean country and you'll see what I mean.

Plus if I stayed and had kids they'd probably get shot up at school, idk.

Too busy living it up in the protection of the Welsh mountains, on Welsh water singing the choir of those before him, to care about city issues.

I've been living in the West country the past year, where the roads leading into the village are narrow, bumpy and hidden by hedges. On our street there are buildings older than the entire foundation of the USA, infact the pub round the corner is 16th century and feels like a tight living space inside. Many Americans wouldn't cope here, they'd feel claustrophobic and panic.

The US. They speak the mother tongue but also have space to move and make lifestyle choices not available on small crowded isles.
Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.
