-10 is the worst I would say, it doesn't really go below that, or just exceptionally.

In Sydney, Australia it's 18-26 degrees during the summers and 8-17 degrees during the winter on average.

It can get as low as 2 degrees though, during the winter and as high as 42 degrees during the summer.

Winter temperatures in London average at about 8°C during the day and 3° C at night, when it snows the temperature will hit maybe -6°C at their lowest, it's not exceptionally cold.

The coldest recorded was -16°C in 1963, I think.

Something quite interesting happens in London, sometimes the central boroughs will be about 5°C warmer than the metro suburbs at the same time of day, this happens because of the dense concentration of built up areas in inner London trapping more heat.

Here in Ohio snows every winter, but with an irregular pattern from year to year: in some winters snows heavily, and in other winters no so much (some few days of light snow that gets all melted in a couple or few more days, followed by several days of temperatures above freezing to later have some more light snow, and so on).

On average winter days highest temperatures are in the few degrees above freezing (in the high 30s or in the 40s in Farenheit, or 2-7 degrees Celsius), and minimum temperatures are few degrees below freezing (20s to low 30s in Farenheit, and -2 to -10 in Celsius). There are however, episodes of extreme cold, that last several days, in which the lowest temperatures can reach as low as -30 degrees Celsius, or even less, and the maximum temperatures are also below freezing.

    Why Fahrenheit over Celsius?

And what comes to metric system (SI system) .... then it is Kelvin degrees we should use .... not Fahrenheit.
