Question Which part of Russia was Catholic in 1762

According to Kabuzan, in 1719 the Russian Empire had no Roman Catholics at all (only 900 - less than one thousand - Roman Catholics in entire Russia within the 1719 borders in 1719).

However, by 1762 the number of Roman Catholics in the Russian Empire increased to 210,400 (again, data from Kabuzan), of which only ca. 1,500 lived within pre-1719 borders of Russia.

So all of that increase was due to annexation of new lands by Russia.

But which Catholic-inhabited area(s) did Russia annex in 1719-1762?

Polish-Lithuanian territories were annexed only in 1772-1795 and 1815.

How and where did Russia acquire >200 thousand Roman Catholics between 1719 and 1762?

Catholics from Russia were always not ethnically Russian.

Because all of Catholics were annexed by Russia during its 18th-19th century expansion into ethnically Non-Russian lands. So you might want to find out what was their ethnicity. Polish and Lithuanian is very probable, Latvian and German less (most of Latvians and Russian Germans were Protestants).

    German immigration?

But I think most Germans in the Russian Empire were Protestant, esp. Mennonite.

Before 1720 there were NO Catholics in Russia at all, except for several hundreds.

Several hundreds is like nothing compared to the total population of many millions.

America had almost no Catholics until they flooded our country en masse starting in the mid-1800s. My forefather was with the Native American/Know-Nothing party, and tried to protect our society from their influx, but was sadly unsuccessful.

Most Germans in the Russian Empire were Protestants, this is one thing.

Secondly, the total number of Germans in the Russian Empire in year 1762 was not more than few dozen thousands (while the number of Catholics was already over 200 thousand).

Apparently Russia acquired Estonia and part of Latvia between 1719 and 1762.
