Why are certain Filipinos so obsessed about Latinos especially Mexicans?

I have met some Filipinos, they were very nice and I just feel like they are curious about Latinos and our similarities that we share... one told me that he felt more closer to Latinos than to other Asians... I personally do not know a lot about the culture all I know is their history with spain and colonization

If anything I think this thread just proves certain people and groups are just obssesed with Filipinos than anything else
