Isn't that the point? I never said morbidly obese in the first place. But all these people are living to a ripe old age with more meat on their bones than not. They would still be classified as "obese" according to BMI.

It's a strange caveat , but true. Older people are usually overweight. They usually live longer than thin people.

Most of the old people I know aren't overweight, and I live in Georgia. I think Richmond is just looking at his own fat family.

Not really. My father is 84 and thin. But he's skinny-fat.

That was meant for foreigners who don't know how bad the problem is in the US.

Meade's kind think discouraging people from stuffing their pie holes with junk food is communism. But then they want everyone to pay for their health care when they get diabetes.

strange question... if getting old is deadly why are people getting old?
Older people get fat because they exercise less and their body does not work as it used to (metabolism), they also lose muscles.
Now the BIM is just an indication, one the best we have but imperfect as it does not take into account things like age or bone structure/weight, etc.
The USA is one of the most obese/overweight country and it only ranks 30th for life expectancy. So I would trust the experts that says obesity is a deadly.
I am talking about obesity, being overweight is probably not such an issue, although it may indicate the need for a change in lifestyle in order to not become obese

This is what Meade considers normal. I'm not even trying to be funny, but 1/5 people in the south look like this
