Seems like there are a lot of stereotypes on anime, such as people thinking that is just weird Japanese animation for kids. It is not, anime itself is not a specific genre, at least no more than animation itself is a genre, but rather a description of how the material is produced. Anime shows, like books or movies, fall into any number of existing genres: comedy, drama, sci-fi, action-adventure, horror and so on. And not every adult character looks like a child, it really depends on what kind of art style the show has. There's a wide range out there, and if you're willing to look into, you can find a show which might suit you.

I thought Amine characters were based on Middle Easterners, because of the big eyes we all have

Doesn't matter what they say, anime characater looks like alpinids or subnordids mainly, there is not only one type of westernerners. You probably think about nordid and atlantids when you think about westerners but that is imprecise, some western types like alpinids can look pseudo -mongoloid

Oh please, for one, Japanese people don't have pointy upturned noses. The characters being depicted are obviously Europeans.
The left shows what an East Asian anime character would look like whereas the right shows how they are currently drawn (basically like Europeans):
This is what East Asian anime characters should look like (99%+ of anime characters look nothing like this):
