100 A.D. Illyrians and 8th century A.D. Illyrians are completely different things.
I said Illyrians and Thracians (those from Anatolia and Thrace) accepted Greek after 7th century A.D. reform (like anyone literate enough or interested to participate in anything important would do).
But those people are of course not Ancient Athenians, Spartans etc...
Constantine the Great
Justin
Justinian
Aurelian
Probus
Decius
etc...
Those are not Ancient Greeks or people who would identify themselves as "Greeks". They would tell you: I am a Roman from Thracian origin.
I can't mix your Patriotism and modern concept of Greece with historical facts that are completely different world from modern Greek Nationalism and Patriotism.

Nope it was not overun by Illyrians
Never heard about such bullshit
Mainland Greece is full by the way with ancient Greek monuments as much as Italy or Anatolia is
Delphi
Epidauros
Athens
All these are regions of Mainland Greece neither Italy nor Turkey
Also there is not only Italy,Mainland Greece and then there is Anatolia
there is Aegean Islands and Crete too which are part of todays Greece
Modern Greece=Continental Greece +Aegean and Ionian Islands
