Default Most Friendly/Least Friendly states ?

What do you consider your top of either category? I have only been to 14 states and most all on the East Coast. But here is my opinion (in no particular order)

    Friendliest:
    Tennessee
    Virginia
    North Carolina
    Pennsylvania
    West Virginia

    Unfriendliest:
    Conneciticut
    Vermont
New York (the state, not the city)
    Massachusettes
    New Jersey

Meh, anytime I've come across so-called southern hospitality, it doesn't seem genuine. Minnesotans seem much more real in their friendliness. So Minnesota for friendliest.

I've been to many states and Utah was the most unfriendly by far instead. From St. George to Logan. I never felt so unwelcome.

Friendliest (from most to less so):
    TN
    NC
    VA
    KY
    LA

Definitely not Pennsylvania IMO. Would put PA at below average, but not near the bottom. Friendliest are generally what I think of as the South, but not the Deep South, with the exception of Louisiana.

Least Friendly (from worst to not as unfriendly):
NY State (actually NYC is friendlier than most of NY State, believe it or not)
    CT
    NJ
    ID
    WA

I meet people from Southern or Southwest PA, and to me they seem um more 'Southern" or Midwestern friendly. I haven't spent much time up there, though. The Southern portion of PA near Maryland feels remarkably different than Philadelphia or any of the major cities. I agree with the rest of your list. Upstate NY, though, is not bad as as Mass or Conn. I haven't been to Maine, though. Vermont was not friendly, and NH wasn't either.

No idea, but probably New York, too busy for people to care.
Los Angeles - Too much fake people pretending to be friendly.
But I like Minnesota and Texas.

I would concur that the Midwest is much friendlier than the South.

I'm used to the coldness of São Paulo & London, so the East Coast didn't really seem unfriendly to me, Boston, NYC, New Jersey and Albany.

The only southern state that I've been to was Florida, I was in Miami, Pompano Beach, Tampa and Orlando, I felt about the same.

The only midwestern state I was in was Minnesota, I found the people to be the friendliest there, St. Paul, Minneapolis, and the countryside.

Florida is East Coast as well. The East Coast runs from Maine to Florida. Ironically, as far south as you can go, and yet Florida is also the least "Southern" state in the South. It really has no Southern culture , except for the extreme northern end of it.

Thanks for clarifying, I've never really been sure if Florida was fully southern, a hybrid, or fully east coast tbh.

In general I found Americans to be rather friendly.
