I think it often has more to do with mythologizing the "Warrior Spirit" and so on... Especially when they use such names for missiles, football teams, etc. It may have something to do with guilt but at the same time honoring the bravery and sacrifices of those who fought...

Im not aware of this but there are so many different gypsies (i mean beliefs and way of lifes) that its possible. I know I count as the super gypsy here, but actually I dont know much about gypsy traditions or ancient beliefs.
