Sadly, it is not true. I know Spain and Spanish people well. they are like little cousins who had a disease when they were young making them physically weak and mentally retarded, who I have affection for but it makes me laugh when they try to be alpha.

I must have met 1,000 Spanish people in my life, and they are very very basic. Even when I hear their conversations on the street or on the train in London, I know they will be confused and talk for 1 hour about something very basic like pues hombre mira que raro los carro tienen el volante a la derecha or pues nos tenemos que bajar en Piccadilly cual es Piccadilly. so BASIC.

A Northern person would just know these things intuitively and be embarrassed even to say them, Spanish talk about them for hours. It's kind of sweet but at the same time funny.
