Well it's because of their reputation. Eastern Europeans act like criminals in other countries.

Nobody is denying the uniqueness of Slavic subgroups but all Slavs speak very similar languages (compared to Germanic and Romance languages) and share at least 50% of very recent DNA with each other. Slavs expanded quite recently compared to other groups like Germanics, Romanics, Iranics or Celts so of course there are more similarities between Slavs than between Germanics or Romanic people. Also for West Europeans you are all "easterners" and most of them don't see a difference between Poles and Czechs or between Ukrainians and Russians. Most of them would probably not even distinguish Poles from Russians. That does not mean that we are all identical and of course panslavism is stupid and every group should do their own thing but pretending to be West Europeans and nothinf like other slavs because sometime in history West Europeans colonized your lands is idiotic.

Slavs are Slavs. West Slavic dialects are a continuum just as East Slavic ones are and just as South Slavic ones are. Slavs could be only three people if they want: Russians (Russians, Ukrainians, Belorussians), Polacks (Poles, Czechs, Slovaks) and Yugoslavs (Serbs, Slovenes, Croats, Bosnians, Montenegrins, Bulgarians, Macedonians).

Czechs and Slovaks could Polonize, Ukrainians and Belorussians could Russify, ex-Yugo + Bulgarians could be Serbized.

Anyway, does Europe have another language group what is more culturally diverse than Slavs?
Some nations are historically Catholic (with culturally important protestant minorities), another ones are Orthodox
(do not forgote Uniats), some are Muslims.
Out of Russia, the Slavic nations were under rule of Holy Roman Empire, some under Hungarian or Austrian rule,
Southern Slavs under Ottoman and partly Venetian rule.
