The fossil record and "Cambrian explosion" seems to be a bit of a problem. I know there are various theories attempting to explain it but I'm not sure how many of them fit with other data available (or there may be a lack of corroborating evidence). In other words, I don't really have my own interpretation of it, although it interests me.
