It was the Italian Calabrian mafia apparently, they have ties to the strawberry industry and drug trafficking.

This guy, he was involved in drug trafficking, was responsible for many marijuana farms and now owns many strawberry farms, "Pasquele Cufari". Apparently, it was some old enemies trying to get revenge on him or something.
