Germans in USA: What happened to them?

Sorry for invade the United States of America page. But, I'm very curious about it. United States of America has the biggest population of germans (out of Germany, obviously), and I dont see much german influence in USA (in vocabulary, accent, others things).

German culture is so ingrained in American culture, so that they are one in the same.

WW1 and WW2 made alot of Germans hide their heritage and made them change their names etc

Ofc its sad to see for me as a German, but I see many German-Americans that start to try get back to their roots, like my ethnic German Bro Gründig

You mean in some regional areas, I'm right? Because the southern culture is very peculiar, and has not much german influences (helpe if I'm mistaken). What do you think is most visible today in the USA that the Germans have left?

Bobby Marten said a catholic German for example wouldnt be seen as a regular white immigrant.

It is true, but, strange in the same time. Germans are whites, so, taking a dude like Donald DRUMPF (bavarian), what the problem to have german roots, in USA?

Hard to say for me, I am sure its ww2 conflict, even tho we never attacked Americans.

But, in the XX century's 30 decade, most germans descendents already were assimilated in the USA society. This surname issue in USA is quite pathetic.
