A good friend of mine traced his family tree back and found there were quite a few nobles from the time of the Norman invasion, I imagine that a huge number of Englishmen have Norman ancestors who arrived during this period. Additionally, England received huge numbers of Huguenot refugees around London during the seventeenth century along with waves of Irishmen during the nineteenth century, particularly in cities such as Liverpool and Manchester during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
