There are around 5000 different species of dragonfly.
Each compound eye on a dragonfly contains as many as 30,000 lenses. They have 360° vision.
They can move each of their four wings independantly.
In addition to flapping each of their wings up and down, they can rotate their wings backwards and forwards on a type of axis.
Because of this, they are able to move straight, up or down, fly backwards,
stop and hover, and make hairpin turns at full speed.
They can mate in mid-air.
Some species of dragonfly can fly up to 50 miles per hour.
