Depression

Anyone here sufferers?

I have had it for about 5-6 years (but who's counting?)

Basically, when I try to explain it to someone, it's like all of the color and vigor has been drained out of life. You can't recall past "feelings" of awe and grandiosity anymore, it's like you have never lived in the first place.

Oh yeah, and the constant lethargy, anxiety/panic attacks, and different chronic pains kinda suck too.....

Some quick questions:

1. How old are you?

2. What's the weather like (in general) where you are?

3. What is your occupation (you can answer generally, as in blue collar, white collar, etc)?

4. Do you have any hobbies?

5. Can you pinpoint the onset of your depression? Was it situation-specific (e.g. loss of a family member) or was it out of the blue?

Depression. Anyone here sufferers?

I have since I was a small child. It comes and goes.

I noticed the amount of sunlight I get is partially important to my case also, but even in the summer I can be wracked by a lethargic and emotionally unresponsive nature.

I can tell when my nature is going to worsen by my dreams. My dreams become more obscure and more melancholic. Even violent.

That doesn't help my mental state at all. Have you ever thought it might be conflicting?

Yes, I have experienced some serious depression after having been fired from some jobs and also after losing some good friends (that I have found back now). I had to take antidepressants and other stuffs like Xanax. I even thought of suicide. This was about five years ago, it has stopped now but it really was a bad part of my life.

Atlas, that must have been terrible for you, having to take Xanax.

Just imagine that. Poor you:

I ask my doctor for benzos and he just mutters to himself whilst ushering me out of the door...


I think that the studies have shown that drugs do not work for depression.

If I have felt low in the past, I have felt better from giving myself a break from social pressures and to just follow a leisurely routine.
