Thanks. Been to and lived in Germany for a few years. It was nice when I was there over 25 years ago.

You might want to visit Poznań too, it is 3.5 hours by train from Warsaw. Toruń is great too.

Map of largest Polish cities: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...3/Mapa1120.png

In the east Lublin is nice and Kazimierz Dolny near Lublin is a beautiful small town:

    =====

Enroute to Toruń you can visit for example Żnin-Wenecja, Kruszwica, Biskupin, Inowrocław:

It is best to visit Biskupin by the end of September, during archaeological festival:

Everybody knows about Cracow, but above I told you about some less known yet also cool attractions.

Biskupin is great to visit during archeological festival, Żnin has a museum of old trains, Inowrocław has:

    http://www.solanki.pl/en/brine-graduation-towers

And all of these attractions can be visited when you go from Warsaw to Toruń (on UNESCO Heritage list).

If you like mountains, you don't have to go all the way to the south, as these are closer:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9A...skie_Mountains

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C4%99ciny_Castle

This area has many stone castles (in northern regions, you will find only brick castles):

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_...agle%27s_Nests

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krak%C...tochowa_Upland

Castles of Mazovian Dukes - Ciechanów, Płock, Warsaw, Czersk, etc. - are all made of brick, similar to Lithuanian and Teutonic castles:

    Duchy of Masovia (1138–1526): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duchy_of_Masovia

    Vidoe in English:

Płock is a very old town, it was the main town of Masovia before Warsaw became significant:

Modlin Fortress trip (not far from Warsaw, on the other side of the Kampinos Forest). Video in English:

    Kampinos Forest: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampinos_National_Park

Modlin Fortress was a site of a major battle in September 1939 and it surrendered later than Warsaw:
