Portugal shipwreck is 'discovery of a decade'

A 400-year-old shipwreck has been discovered off the coast of Portugal.

The find is part of a 10-year archaeological project supported by the town of Cascais, the Portuguese government and navy, and Nova University in Lisbon.

Project director Jorge Freire called it the "discovery of a decade".

Yes, ours. They found on it cannons with the Portuguese royal coat of arms engraved, coins from the slave trade and even spices from India.

It is a ship that made it to India but sunk 30 km away from Lisbon. From what I read specialists say that this corroborates with the idea that sailors had that entering/crossing the Atlantic Ocean into the Tagus river was one of the trickiest parts of the journey.
