You should see Dutch front yards. Very neat and tidy, unlike Belgian ones. I might make a thread about cultural differences between the Netherlands and Belgium (the Flemish Region). I read some articles about it this month. One I liked, another one not that much. They usually have clickbait titles like 'no culture as mutually different than Dutch and Flemish cultures'. A bullshit title, IMO, as we're still very alike regardless in core. It's just that the differences in mentality are formed through different state cultures, as even a Catholic Dutchman has ancestors who lived in a state dominated by a Calvinist ethos for 400 years. Also a difference is that they have a continuity of having been a state where the Dutch culture thrives and dominates, whereas the Dutch culture here was longtime suppressed.
One of those articles I read claimed we are more alike to French than to Dutchmen. A big no to say to a Flemish person. It's propaganda that has been used against us in history by people with an obvious agenda. And even if true (it's not IMO), it still doesn't mean we're less compatible with Dutch.

I'm happy my ancestors were adventurous enough to move to sunnier pastures. I must say I really prefer our new land.
