Finns and Hungarians don't understand each other at all. Officially both are "Finno-Ugric" speakers, what a joke!

I find similarity in the sounding of the two language, and we have few relative words, but yes we don't understand each other, neither the turkish I will add this aswell..

Some word of wisdom:

Turanid is basically Mediterranid and Tungid intermediate and it is not so rare among Hungarians by the way.

Hungarian, while distant from Finnish, does have the similar intonation.



But they're quite far from each other.

And both Finns as Hungarians are European with a Christianised culture. Indo-Aryan and Indo-Iranian come with a certain cultural baggage we'd have to get over as Germanic speakers. I have no experience learning languages from those branches, though. Perhaps that would make no difference at all.
