If we look just at I1-M253 then Russians have more of it (higher % of the population) than Italians:

Since Peter the Great times Russia was built with orientation toward Germanic states of NW Europe+France. Also 10-25% of influential persons in different areas were ethnic Germans\Germanics.

Italy by far. They still have a Germanic-speaking region to this day (Trentino-South Tyrol) and a state named after a Germanic tribe (Lombardy). A Germanic state (Switzerland) also controls Lombard/Italic-speaking land (Ticino). They border Germanic lands and several Italian & Germanic polities have overlapping borders (Roman Empire, Orthogothic Kingdom, etc).

Also, the modern Russian flag is based off a Germanic country's flag (Netherlands).

What was the exact reason for basing Russian flag off the Dutch Republic flag? Wasn't it to orient Russia towards Western Europe or something? I'm not sure on the exact details.

Btw, funny how the colors of a Germanic flag became the colors of Pan-Slavism.

Interesting that there is a great divide between Germans and Italians today:

I thought it was refer on direct patenal line.

King Peter II was 1/2 Serb https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_II_of_Yugoslavia
Prince Alexander is 1/4 Serb https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexan..._of_Yugoslavia

Rulers before King Peter II were fully Serbs, if we not count Alexander I, he was half Montenegrin (in his time Montenegrins considered themselves for Serbs).
