    False. There are records it was present during Nemanjic rule (before Ottomans). You should read first post.

    It predates the Ottomans with several centuries. The Bedouin Rebab is the closest related instrument and I think Arab traders mentioned gusle being played prior to their arrival.

    My understanding has always been that pretty much all instances of musical instrument came to Europe via West Asia.

    One important fact about Serbian epic poetry - Serbian epic poetry sung with the accompaniment of the Gusle is traditionally sung in the decasyllabic verse. (Deseterac).
