At gunpoint, I know I wouldn't want to live in Romania as that one was the most totalitarian of the bunch. Otherwise, meh, all the same. GDR is probably better as you'd end up in a unified Germany after its collapse. GDR citizens also had more liberal values, even under communism than other Warsaw Pact citizens.

But the "denkspiel" (couldnt find a english translation) would be, that you dont know the outcome of each country. Imagine its 1970 and you have to choose one.

there was period before I was born that border between Poland and GDR was open and who only could - went to GDR on let's say shopping, this is how good was in Polen
