Default What is your personal attitude towards the United States and why? Do you think we're number 1?

I would like to get to know your personal attitude towards the US: towards the American culture, history, our melting pot and - most importantly perhaps - the American idealism, civil as opposed to ethnic national identity, the American dream (capitalism, property rights, betterment of human condition).

I say this unironically. Objectively, we are "number one" in terms of the economic and military power, we also are responsible for most innovations across all industries (ranging from electronics and IT to medicine and pharmaceuticals). From PET scan to the internet to moon landing.

My personal opinion is really unimportant here. Maybe I am a kind of Ben Shapiro Pax Americana idealist, or maybe I'm for withdrawal of the US from the world stage (it really doesn't matter).

I would like to get to know your opinions on the US - what is your personal attitude towards the US and why?

All opinions are welcome (complementary and especially critical ones )

I am against imposing modern culture in general. USA is its main propagator.

Thank you for sharing your point of view. No comment on the "political dynamics" inside of Turkey

My main issue is how they fucked us over in the Indies and then forced us to go to Korea. The The Hague Invasion Act and their behavior towards their European allies during the Afghan and Iraq War was also appalling. Their press is a serious nightmare and their modern culture a plague on mankind. But that doesn't change the important fact that they are an old friend and a key ally. They are that narcissistic, insane friend but a friend nonetheless. So we're left worrying about them, administering him anti-psychotics and hoping things will be better. Get well soon, America ! Real soon !

The largest economy, but not per capita. There are many richer countries out there, such as Norway. Norway, with barely over 1 person to every 100 Americans, can hardly be expected to rival you overall, but their wealth and economic management are clearly far superior to yours in every measurable respect I can think of.

Two of your examples of innovation are both from the 1960s, which was the zenith of your power, before the beginning of your decline in the late 1990s. The general idea of 'most innovations across all industries' (your words) [citation needed] is undated and absurd. But of course you contribute a lot.

At the same time there are many obvious failings in your country - for example, with all your medical excellence, why does your life expectancy lag behind nearly all other OECD countries, whilst your morbidity is greater?

When I think about the United states I have images about skyscrapers in the big cities, good economics, hollywood movies, great plain areas crossed with freeways, veteran cars, small town culture in the south, warm hearted people, good junkfood in all amounts, national parks, short but stirring, eventful history....On the other hand I image a melting pot, social contrasts, corrupt government, military dominance, wall street sharks, gangs, drugs, Lgbt culture, fat tourists... In a nutshell.

Kind of mixed. I can't deny American culture shaped my life in a way, as film, music, fashion and all that is omnipresent in entire Europe and was especially in my home, since large amount of my relatives are Americans.
I consider US exciting place. There is smell of adventure and freedom, even though much of it is due to the past and Hollywood rather than reality in present moment.

It is so geographically, culturally and ethnically diverse that is represent a world on it's own. I think lot of important ideas and inovations of the western world were born in the US, but also I consider it a country which golden age is long gone. There is something quite alluring and at same time so inhumane and alien about the US I prefer to consume pieces of it's culture from distance, while still being thankful we Europeans are different as night and day from you Yanks.

I will not say anything original - very positive towards conservative Republican America and extremely negative towards progressive Democratic (corporate).
