They can come back and accept European values without declaring as Croats or Serbs. Who can guarantee you that any Bosniak is 100% Croat or 100% Serb. After Ottomans were chased away from Hungary and Croatia Muslims fled to Bosnia, including muslim Hungarians, I read about muslim Poles too. As you know Sandžak Bosniaks are almost entirely of Albanian descent. Bosniaks in Croatia after a generation or two become fond of a country and search Croatia connections, find one and declare as Croats. It reminds me of Americans declaring as X ethnicity after finding out about their ancestor who lived in 1700s.

Ok so my family are Hercegovci Croatian and I wanted to share my opinion. If you go to Hercegovina you will see all the old catholic churches and mosques but the orthodox church's are much newer. You will see that and realise that Catholicism in Hercegovina is ancient and so is the Muslim religion since the ottoman invasion. To be croatian is to be catholic (except for the muslim community) and so therefore the catholics in Hercegovina are croatian. To me, I was always taught that we Hercegovci are more placid and kind people and that we assimilated and mixed with the muslim/bosnians and ofcourse when the serbians came. I was never raised to hate anyone and I never will. I love all Balkanci and as long as you respect my religion then I will respect yours. I grew up next to a Bosnian muslim and he was the best neighbour that my family could have had. Peace and best wishes!

Hi, I've been searching for information on this for years and years and no luck.

    Can you post it here?

    Thanks.

Herzegovinians there are Croats from Široki Brijeg and Mostar.
I have 4,5 Croats from Herzegovina on my 23andme list and all of them are I2 except one who is I1. It is just a coincidence, but in my opinion total I in Herzegovina would converge to 55% if large enough sample is taken.

I don't know where he pulled that 86 number since I don't know about any other study.
I have dozens of Croatians from Hercegovina on my 23andMe and over half are I2.

I read something posted on a croatian forum and on a albanian forum about it absolutely ages ago, no clue about further evidence this argument was months ago and I haven't done any further research on it as it isn't a topic that particularly interests me.

What you read are shitposts from a notorious Bosnian Muslim poster who spread it all over the internet.

and I haven't done any further research on it as it isn't a topic that particularly interests me.
Of course it doesn't because it was a lie and you just got called out on it.

In the original post you said that there is a documented history....and it turns out you just read a shitpost on a forum.

Migrations were carefully noted in parish records by priests, which is why we know that the Croatians in Hrtkovci, Srijem, descend from Catholic Kelmendis who arrived there in the 18th century.

It's also why we know that the Arbanasi came from Sestani, in between Bar and Lake Skadar in Montenegro.

But not a single document anywhere about Albanians arriving in Hercegovina.
