Central Europe (Southern/Central Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and perhaps some regions of Poland and Hungary) geographically and mathmaticaly is in between Southern Europe (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Balkans and Greece) and Northern Europe (Scandinavia, Northern Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Baltic States) and theoricaly they should look inbetween Southern Euros and Northern Euros but to me a person from Vienna, Prague or Munich is much more close to pass in Oslo, Stockholm or Copenhagen than to pass in Lisbon, Rome or Athens.
You see much more Nordics in Austria or Switzerland than Atlanto Meds, Alpine-Med or Gracile Meds.....
Sub Nordics are commonplace in Austria but rare in Mediterranean countries.
To my view historicaly much of the current Central European region was under Roman occupation, had Celtic peoples inhabitating as well as in Southern Europe (Iberia, Italy.....) but it seems that the Germanic/Scandinavian contributions ended up being more important and numerous than the Mediterranean ones....
Discuss.
