Tbh, just looking at the picture supplied, you see decay or someone holding on too long and love unrequited. The beauty has faded and all that's left is the sad memory of it.

I prefer them fresh. Dried roses are pretty much dead things. I can imagine people keeping dried flowers as a keepsake (something that used to be quite popular in the old days) but there is something about the rose that makes it unfit for the purpose.

A rose is a symbol of love and should therefore be fresh like the first days of spring.

there is such superstition in here as well. romanian culture is full of superstitions. it's not good to keep dead flowers inside of the house, to bring home wild flowers or cattail

I pick them up in the neighborhood all the time, and burn them in the night, it makes a nice spectacle.
