Alright, well I'm Scots living in Liverpool but Liverpool has a strong Celtic vibe due to immigration. So you want to talk about language ? Why as a mainland Scot would I want to speak Gaelic/Gaidhlig ? That is an Irish language. The highland clearances, in Scotland, were performed by Lowland Scots not the 'evil English' and there are more sheep in the highlands than people therefore logically it makes no sense for Scots to speak it. Scots are more Germanic than both the Irish and the Welsh hence our language is Germanic too. Scots is the Germanic language variety spoken in Lowland Scotland and parts of Ulster in Ireland (where the local dialect is known as Ulster Scots). I consider it just another dialect of English and it is more olde-English than the Queen's English. As likely you know there is no one dialect of English as there is the Queen's English, Scouse, Cockney, Scots etc... etc...So, ethnicity is more than just genetics it is linguistic and cultural but I will show you that mainland Scots are more Germanic than you and that is why our language is Germanic. So, why exactly should I want to speak an inferior Gaelic Irish tongue or why exactly should I care about your sheep shagger cymru language ? Imagine if the Welsh Bertrand Russell wrote in Welsh instead of English ? That would have been idiotic ! Don't try to drag us Scots like Graham and I into your English hate fest however maybe the French will join you !
