It's hard to be short in the Balkan?

I am not short overall, it's just compared to some of my family members who are extremely tall. I was around 1.80 at 16 I grew till I was about 19-20.

Depends of region, in Montenegro and Herzegovina probably yes (im 186cm and still feel short or at least average among them)
But in other regions no.

You also need less food if you're short, so more adept in survival situations.
