It seems like a lot of the immigrants I see in Canada from this region are taller. Perhaps they all higher caste? I mean many I see are taller than myself and I'm 181cm.

Yeah, Indian diaspora in Portugal is nowhere near 1.65 cm on average to be honest. We have some Punjabs but the majority comes from Goa. I am assuming that Indian families who have the money to move to another country and start a business from zero were already part of the middle-upper class back in their own country.

I have noticed however that Bengals tend to be shorter than Indians on average though, at least the ones living in here.

Noteable observations
-South Indian state Kerala is on par with NW india for both genders. most likely due to better HDI, nutrition, etc.
-Not much variation among the females but still noticeable to a degree
-NW Indians tend to be the tallest, for both genders
-Western Indian males are taller than Eastern Indian males
-Females from UP and Bihar (North central indian states) are shorter than even Northeast Indian females on average.

Male height National average: 165 cm (5'5)



Female Height National average: 152 cm (5 ft)

I am 170 cm almost 5.7 taller than indian male average

I am surprised people from Kerala are so different than other South Indians, that being said my grandpa was quite tall for an Indian but my mum is quite short by Australian standards.

yeah kerala is the most developed state in India. They tend to have proper nutrition, life expectancy, literacy, etc. They aren't just taller than south indians, they are taller than most indians. Their average height is the same as punjabis/kashmiris..

That being said punjab and kashmir have more potential than what they are at now. That region has more issues with nutrition. Punjab is developed as well but they tend to be vegetarians. Kashmir is slightly undeveloped for indian standards so thats hindering height over there as well.

Iam between 5.7" to 5.9" my father is 6.3, my grandpa is 5.8 my great grandpa was 6.5

Yes I know upper class Indians around 190cm.
